Cycle the most beautiful routes in Ardèche
Whether you’re a weekend cyclist or a sporty mountain biker, the area around Camping Lou Rouchetou is ideal for cycling in the great outdoors. Thanks to a network of small roads, forest tracks and signposted trails, you can explore the southern Ardèche at your own pace, taking in the varied, unspoilt scenery.
ACCESSIBLE ROUTES
for the whole family
Around Les Vans, a number of circuits are perfectly suited to family cycling. Short, easy loops take you through varied landscapes of orchards, garrigue and little-traveled back roads. These itineraries, often loops, are ideal for an outing with young children or a late afternoon stroll.
Some routes offer the chance to take a swim or have a picnic in a refreshing natural setting. The routes are signposted “circuits cyclo”, with information on distances, levels of difficulty and points of interest not to be missed: panoramas, washhouses, chapels…
Electric bikes are also welcome on these routes: they enable even the least experienced to enjoy the rides. It’s a gentle way to discover the surrounding area, observe the flora and fauna, and enjoy stress-free family time. In summer, it’s best to set off early in the morning or late in the day to avoid the heat.
More committedand cycling tours
Thanks to its privileged location, Lou Rouchetou is an excellent starting point for leisure activities. For mountain bikers or road cyclists, the area around the campsite offers a number of more challenging circuits, suitable for both sporty and seasoned cyclists. From Les Vans, you can join technical loops climbing to the crests of the Cévennes ardéchoises, with striking panoramas over valleys, gorges and limestone plateaus. The routes take in forest tracks, single-track trails and winding roads on the mountainside.
The nearby Parc naturel régional des Monts d’Ardèche is an ideal playground for mountain biking and cycle touring: wilderness, contrasting landscapes, low visitor numbers. Some of the routes are featured on official topoguides or hiking apps, and are regularly maintained.
The campsite reception offers a selection of maps and detailed information sheets, and can guide you towards routes suited to your level or your bike. You can also hire equipment from local suppliers: mountain bikes, VTCs and electric bikes. Bike racks are available on site, as well as a water point for cleaning your equipment after exercise.
After your outing, theaquatic area awaits you for a well-deserved recovery or a cool drink on the terrace.
