Campsite near Les Vans, a lively, authentic Ardèche village

Less than 5 km from Camping Lou Rouchetou, the village of Les Vans is a must-see in the southern Ardèche. At the crossroads of the Cévennes and the Chassezac gorges, this dynamic village combines heritage, art de vivre and lively local life. It’s also an ideal starting point for outdoor activities, between river and cliffs.

A REPUTED WALK
and a year-round atmosphere

On Saturday mornings, the narrow streets of Les Vans come alive for the famous weekly market. Fruits, vegetables, cheeses, honeys, local crafts: you can feel the heart of the Ardèche beating there. The café terraces fill up, strollers stroll between the stalls, and the atmosphere is one of relaxation. In summer, the Tuesday night market extends this festive atmosphere, with music, stalls and entertainment.

This market is much more than just a place to shop: it’s a weekly meeting place for locals, producers and holidaymakers. It’s a place to discover regional flavors, but also a warm, authentic way of life. Les Vans becomes a theater of encounters, discoveries and exchanges.

Away from the market, Les Vans remains a lively town, with art galleries, shops and shady squares. A stroll through the old town center reveals a discreet but very present heritage: church, arcades, old mansions… All in a mid-mountain setting that invites you to stroll. Several one-off events also liven up the year: concerts, exhibitions, street festivals. Even in the off-season, life goes on in Les Vans, with a mildness typical of the southern Ardèche region.
