A veritable mosaic of landscapes, the Monts d’Ardèche Regional Nature Park stretches from the Cévennes to the Ardèche highlands. From the Lou Rouchetou campsite, it’s easy to reach some of its most emblematic sites, whether for a hike, a family outing or a discovery of the natural heritage.

The park covers more than 180,000 hectares and is home to a wide variety of environments: volcanic ridges, deep forests, cool rivers, high-altitude pastures and charming hilltop villages. This variety makes the
Areas accessible from Les Vans include the Corniche des Cévennes, the Tanargue massif, the sources of the Beaume, the Drobie valley and the Monts du Vivarais. The well-maintained hiking trails offer itineraries of varying length and difficulty, suitable for experienced hikers and families alike.
Along the way, you can observe protected fauna – golden eagles, beavers, chamois, rare butterflies – and exceptional high-altitude flora. The park is also home to several geosites that bear witness to its volcanic past. Educational panels punctuate some of the walks to help you better understand this unique ecosystem. Picnic areas are available to take a break while enjoying the panoramic views.
Within a day’s reachfrom the campsite
The park can be explored in stages, depending on your preferences, your level of experience and the weather. From the Lou Rouchetou campsite, it’s easy to plan a day out in nature. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely stroll through the undergrowth, a panoramic loop or a more challenging circuit, you’ll find itineraries within an hour’s drive. Hikes can be done on foot, or by electric bike for those who want to explore without too much effort.
